Air Fryer Salmon with Garlic and Dill

Salmon cooks so quickly in an air fryer that dinner can be on the table in about twenty minutes. The circulating heat browns the top of the fillet while the inside stays moist, and the air fryer heats up in just a few minutes. This version uses garlic, dill and lemon, a combination that suits almost any side. Choose fillets of even thickness so they finish at the same time.

Instructions

  1. Take the salmon out of the fridge 10 minutes before cooking. Pat the fillets dry with paper towels and check for any pin bones with your fingertips.
  2. Stir the olive oil, garlic, dill, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt and pepper together in a small bowl. Spread the mixture over the flesh side of each fillet.
  3. Heat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F) for 3 minutes. Lightly oil the basket, or line it with perforated parchment so the air can still flow.
  4. Place the fillets skin side down in a single layer, leaving a little space between them. Cook for 7 to 9 minutes, depending on thickness.
  5. The salmon is ready when the thickest part flakes easily with a fork and reads 63°C (145°F). Rest the fillets for 2 minutes.
  6. Lift the fillets from the basket with a wide spatula and serve with lemon wedges.

Tips

  • Thin tail pieces cook faster than thick center cuts. Tuck the thin end under itself or take smaller fillets out of the basket a minute early.
  • No fresh dill? Use fresh parsley or chives, or 1 teaspoon of dried oregano for a different flavor.

Questions and answers
